Ill be sharing my thoughts on games i am playing, games coming out , sharing my new picksups and just stories of my life in general i feel are worth sharing!

Im about 35% done with the game as i write this article and the one word i would use to describe Brutal Legend so far is…confusing? Not confusing as in the story or the plot but confusing in the fact that the demo doesnt even touch on the bigger aspects of the game. Then again it is only a demo. What i mean by this is that the demo lays out that the game will be a typical button mashing hack and slash game. When you play the game you find out theres driving, customization and RTS type encounters. Not at all am i saying the game is bad it just seems to have so many genres of games mixed into one, something nobody was expecting. A lot of people got this game hoping for a bloody beat em up and l, ike them, were alittle turned off by the “Stage Battles” which is the term of the RTS portions of the game. I will get into that into alittle while but for now i would like to talk about the other aspects that make up this game.

I am thoroughly impressed with the metal themed environment. Giant stone hands emerging from the ground throwing up the rock n roll “horns”, Hardcore metal music blasting from your speakers, tight leather outfits  and even a cameo by rock god Ozzy Osbourne are small examples. To gather your troops together, you must call upon them by headbanging together. I find myself very entertained at the funny comments of the characters and the tiny details that were put into the game to add to the rock n roll feeling. It shows you that lots of time and effort was put into this game and it helps make the game more appealing to me. The graphics are as good as they can be for this unique cartoonish art style, and the game play is very smooth. The driving is done very well and comes in handy since the world is fairly large and it makes it easier to get to mission quicker.

The game seems to go fast if you follow just the main story but you will find the need to complete secondary missions to get more points to customize your vehicle and obtain stronger weapons and combos. The secondary missions involve racing, sneak attacking enemies and killing creatures of the land.

The Stage Battles feel a bit awkward and its difficult to control all of your forces to do what you want. Its a good concept but unexpected. Thankfully these battles involve slashing away at enemies with your forces while defending certain objects.

Overall i do enjoy all the aspects of the game and the different genres are growing on me. A lot of people are trading in the game due to the RTS portions of the game but honestly its not to strong of an RTS and you feel its more like a Hack and Slash more than an RTS. Once i have finished the game i will put up a review of this dark gloomy entertaining brutal experience.
